About the Event
In Southeast Asia, food is a source of pride and passion – but how many people living in cities actually know where it comes from?
The food we eat is largely produced by Southeast Asia’s 100 million smallholder farmers. Despite the key role that smallholders play in supporting food security and global value chains, they are undervalued and face a complex set of challenges that threaten their livelihoods. With the COVID 19 pandemic posing a threat to agriculture and food supply chains, there is an unprecedented need to understand and appreciate the work of our region’s farmers. Thus, WOMAG is organizing a unique event that aims to:
1. Shed light on the realities of millions of smallholder farmers in the region that produce the crops we consume, such as rice, vegetables and cocoa by sharing their stories.
2. Provide a unique dining experience that is grounded in the principles of sustainability and highlights local ingredients from Southeast Asia.
3. Encourage networking among women and allies in the agribusiness sector that are interested in promoting more inclusive value chains.
Trained at Le Cordon Bleu London, Chef Pia Lopez has designed a delectable menu with locally sourced ingredients.
